Help to comply with health and safety standards

A NORTH East firm set up to help SMEs comply with health and safety regulations has opened two new offices to meet demand.
Comply UK was set up in Stockton by Jarrow-born Andy Devlin in 2007 and now has 15 staff after opening branches in Glasgow and Leeds.
The firm works with small businesses employing four or more people, which are legally required to meet the same health and safety standards as huge multinationals.
Mr Devlin said: “People think that keeping within the law as far as health and safety is concerned is expensive and that’s why they take short cuts – in some cases avoiding complying with legislation altogether.
“We make complying with legislation easy and affordable and take the worry of health and safety away from the client leaving them to get on with their core business.”
Comply UK puts together an in-house computerised audit plan for clients, which they can access at any time. The team puts together an account of the client’s health and safety status and creates an action plan for the business.
The new offices in Scotland and Yorkshire were set up so the business can start running training courses in other parts of the country, such as First Aid at Work training.
