Small businesses get help with PAYE

SMALL businesses using Pay As You Earn (PAYE) are being invited to workshops being held across Tyneside and Northumberland to ensure they are up to date with the system before the end of the tax year and know which deadlines they need to meet afterwards.

HM Revenue & Customs is organising the events both before and after the April 5 tax year end to help those unsure whether they are working through the process correctly.

Experts will be able to give face-to-face advice to ensure businesses avoid missing deadlines and the associated penalty payments and interest levied on any late tax or National Insurance contribution payments.

The workshops, which are aimed specifically at employers, sole traders and partnerships, are free to attend.

Stephen Symonds from HMRC said: “These events will allow us to bring our advice directly to the business community across the North East and offer practical assistance where it is needed.”

The dates and venues are:

Wednesday March 11, Business Advice Centre, Ashington.
