MORE than 160 North East businesses have attended workshops aiming to help them cope with the effects of the economic downturn.
The Keep Your Business Fighting Fit events have been put together by Business Link to cover pressing issues such as managing cash flow, legal issues and redundancies, negotiating with banks, minimising risks and maximising profit, raising finance, risk management, staff training and winning sales.
The interactive workshops feature speakers and expert advisers to provide guidance specific to attendees’ own businesses.
Alastair MacColl, chief executive of Business & Enterprise North East, which delivers the Business Link service in the region, said: “The Keep Your Business Fighting Fit workshops have been developed to provide advice and assistance that is practical, topical and relevant to businesses from all sectors and of all sizes.
“We have put in place this sustained programme of events that will run until the middle of 2010, providing flexible and innovative support for North East businesses.
“The popularity of these events demonstrates just how crucial support is at this time, and we look forward to welcoming more businesses to the workshops, and helping them ensure their business is fit for the future.”
The next workshops are at the Thistle Hotel, Middlesbrough, today and tomorrow; the Hancock Museum in Newcastle on August 25; and the Assembly Rooms, Newcastle, on August 26.
The events are free to attend but must be booked in advance by calling (0191) 281-5777.
