SMALL firms in the region have been recognised for social networking themselves to success.
A total of 170 firms who received training from Say Consultancy in how to use social media to benefit their businesses were rewarded for their efforts at a special ceremony at St James’ Park.
The workshops, which took place across the region, looked at practical uses for social media from Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin to business websites and blogs. Because of the wide take-up of social media by the public, it is now considered a vital marketing tool for firms of all sizes.
Karen Seedall, who took part in one of the workshops, said: “I really needed this development programme, not only because I run my own business but I am also chairman of the Bellingham and District Trade and Tourism Association who are responsible for assisting in the marketing of over 70 local businesses.
“The programme has proved invaluable, I now know we can deliver results and bring our part of Northumberland into the 21st Century, more importantly we cannot afford to be left behind. What Say Consultancy through their excellent training has awarded me is not only the tools to take my business forward but also many other businesses in the district.”
The training was funded through the Northumberland Business Service Ltd (NBSL) and the European Social Fund Leadership and Management programme. The funding to provide social media training has ended, but NBSL is able to offer financial support towards other types of development.
