Bedlington couple make Bistro 62 dream come true

Bistro 62 in Bedlington

A COUPLE who met when they were working together in a hotel have opened their own bistro.

Chef Del Thomas and partner Candice Baker have finally started the business they first discussed when they got together six years ago.

The couple are now running Bistro 62 in Bedlington, using Del’s 17 years experience as a chef and former waitress Candice’s organisational ability.

She said: “We have always dreamed of opening our own business and Bistro 62 is everything we could have hoped for.

“We have only been open a few weeks and already our reputation is building. People are coming to eat and re-booking tables immediately. The Sunday lunches are especially popular. It’s hard work but it’s so much more rewarding.”

The couple worked with the Go Wansbeck enterprise agency and received help with their marketing, advertising and finance planning.

Enterprise coach Graeme Trotter said: “With Candice’s front of house skills and Del’s culinary delights, this business partnership is giving their customers exactly the culinary experience that has been missing from this area for a number of years.”
