A NORTH Tyneside couple have transformed a former street corner sweet shop into a coffee shop and ice cream parlour.
Beaches and Cream in Cullercoats is the brainchild of property developers Dave and Marji Reynolds who have created 17 full and part-time jobs at the shop, which specialises in vintage afternoon tea, old-fashioned ice creams and a menu using locally-sourced ingredients.
Mrs Reynolds said: “We are overwhelmed with the interest that the shop has had so far.
“The feedback from customers has been fantastic and we have had great comments for regenerating what was a derelict shop.” The couple are already looking to expand further and are working on their plans with Haines Watts Chartered Accountants.
Donna Bulmer, client partner at Haines Watts’ Newcastle offices, said: “We have been working closely with Beaches and Cream which was a start-up, to implement their business plan and provide support and guidance where ever possible.
“Going forward we will be working closely with Dave and Marj to seek out new business opportunities, which we hope will result in the launch of more exciting new ventures and create even more jobs in the region.”
