Ex-Rock analyst opens Cold Cuts Delicatessen

Annette Marshall

A FORMER Northern Rock tax analyst has sunk her redundancy money into sandwiches.

Annette Marshall opened Cold Cuts Delicatessen in the old hairdressers’ shop in Bedlington Station, which had stood empty for two years.

She said: “There is nothing worse than seeing empty shop fronts along the main shopping area.

“All of our products are fresh, local and cooked on the premises. As an added bonus, we have gained five stars on Northumberland’s new Scores on the Doors rating scheme for hygiene standards in food businesses.”

Annette, who sells everything from cold meats to homemade quiche and hot and cold sandwiches, received help from family friend Bobby Cowell, who owns the local butcher shop.

And she also worked with Go Wansbeck Business Enterprise coach Lisa Scott, who helped put together a business plan, a cash flow prediction and detailed market research.

Ms Scott said: “Annette is really living the dream. From redundancy to running her own business in just seven months is a fantastic achievement.

“And with her plans and the support of the local community I’m sure the business will go from strength to strength.”
