South Tyneside small firms invited to event

SMALL firms in South Tyneside are being invited to an event to find out how they can do business with the borough council, its partners and some of its major suppliers.

The Open for Business event, in South Shields Town Hall, will also include free training workshops on selling techniques, pitching for business and the public sector tender process.

Coun Michael Clare said: “Public sector organisations in the North East spend billions of pounds each year on a wide range of goods and services, from paper clips and food to construction materials and computers.

“We want to help businesses in South Tyneside win a greater share of that spend.

“We know that some local businesses find the public sector procurement process complex and this event is about breaking down the barriers by giving them the information and advice they need to compete for supply contracts when such opportunities arise. It is also a great chance to network with other local businesses.”

Open for Business takes place from 9am to 7pm on Thursday, October 6.

It is free to drop in but businesses should confirm their attendance with the council and booking is essential for those who want to take part in the workshops.
