HERBALIST Ruth Iglesias-Cuevas has launched her business Hadaduende Herbs in Bedlington in an empty shop once occupied by a hairdressing salon.
The business operates as a herbal medicines dispensary and consulting rooms, offering specially-mixed herbal therapies and teas.
Ms Inglesias-Cuevas said: “I moved to England with my partner nine years ago and practised as a complementary therapist for many years before graduating with a BSc in herbal medicines from Edinburgh Napier University.
“Herbal medicine is an established therapy which can help with all sorts of conditions.
“Many of the substances we use are very potent and, following new regulations introduced earlier this year, have never been safer. As a qualified and licensed practitioner I have a good grounding in orthodox medical treatments as well so I can be sure my therapies are a useful addition.”
Before setting up on her own, she administered complementary treatments on a voluntary basis at Wansbeck Hospital.
She worked with commercial property adviser Luke Dunnett from start-up advisers Go Wansbeck to find premises and received business planning and promotion assistance from the agency’s Karl McCracken.
Mr Dunnett said: “Ruth has a real passion for her work and a strong track record as her legions of happy clients will testify. The new shop means she can provide her services in comfortable professional surroundings with great access. I really wish her the best of luck.”
