SMALL food and drink producers are being given the opportunity to show off their produce at an event later this month.
The Meet the Producers day, organised by the Love Food Project and South Durham Enterprise Agency (SDEA), is aimed at anyone involved in food production in the North Pennine Dales.
Businesses will be able to meet new customers, find out what retailers want and learn how to present their products to their best advantage.
SDEA business advisor Steven Robson said: “This is a great opportunity for anyone whose business is involved in food production to meet potential new customers. It will connect like-minded people and help sustain and promote the local food industry.”
Love Food director, Hazel Coppack, said: “Love Food is keen not just to persuade people to buy local produce, but to help the local economy by encouraging links between suppliers and users. This is an ideal opportunity for that to happen.”
The event takes place on January 18 at the UTASS offices in Middleton-in-Teesdale, County Durham, from 1pm to 3pm. In addition to food producers, organisers are extending an open invitation to all retailers and eating establishments that are keen to source more locally-produced food.
The Love Food project runs until the end of this year. Entry to the Meet the Producers Day is free but places should be reserved by contacting Steven Robson on 01388 776688 or by emailing steven@theenterpriseagency.co.uk
