Wireless internet for guests

A NORTH-EAST hotel has become the latest in an international chain to adopt technology which provides wireless internet access to guests.

The Best Western Beaumont Hotel in Hexham has implemented the MyZones WiFi system throughout the hotel, giving guests with wireless-enabled laptop computers, PDAs or games consoles free access to the internet.

And management at the hotel believe that MyZones has the potential to increase the number of bookings that it takes.

The 25-bedroom Best Western Beaumont Hotel will get the service as part of its parent group’s plan to have internet connectivity in all its hotels by the end of the year.

Beaumont Hotel manager Martin Owen says: “We decided that we wanted to offer free internet access to our guests, and being a relatively small hotel, that meant we need a system that was both technologically suitable and economical to run.

“We looked at a lot of different systems that would do what we wanted which came with a wide variety of price tags, but the package that MyZones offered us stood out on all our criteria for choosing a supplier.”

The MyZones system allows the Beaumont Hotel to modify the first page on which users land to include any message they choose, such as information on products, services, special offers or forthcoming events. It also has a comprehensive management facility which analyses WiFi usage and restricts internet access to authorised users only.
