Chance to relive Sunday for Sammy gigs

TV AND video games production company Mere Mortals is hoping to bring the North East’s top talent into living rooms across the country.

The Newcastle firm is currently working on a DVD of Sunday for Sammy, a biennial gathering of the region’s entertainers, held in memory of actor Sammy Johnson, which raises money for the region’s up-and-coming talent.

The company will turn seven hours of footage from two live shows held at Newcastle’s City Hall in January into a DVD for sale to the general public later this year.

The firm will edit and mix the footage taken by producers Geoff Wonfor – an ex-director of The Tube – and Ray Laidlaw, former drummer of North East band Lindisfarne.

David McPhee, head of post production at Mere Mortals, said: “It’s our job to make sure all the best bits of the best acts get on to the DVD and to recreate the sound of the City Hall.”
