Vikings ride again in action film plan

A YOUNG film-maker has been given access to some of the most advanced movie technology to bring his Viking script to life.

Marc Ganley, who has written a documentary called Ragnarok – The Last Viking Invasion, is working in partnership with Middlesbrough digital media group DigitalCity.

DigitalCity will help him raise funding to make a trailer over the summer to present to commissioning editors.

The organisation, a partnership between Teesside University and Middlesbrough Council, will also give the budding movie-maker access to its technology. Mr Ganley is being mentored through the DigitalCity programme by internationally award-winning drama and documentary film-maker Peter Kershaw, of Duchy Parade Films in Harrogate.

Mr Kershaw, who won a Royal Television Society Award for his short film Wilfred, will produce the project.

Mr Ganley said: “Much of the film is based around the North of England and, using the digital technology available at DigitalCity, I will be able to recreate some spectacular, realistic scenes from the Viking invasion.”
