MICROSOFT’S groundbreaking new product will make its UK debut in the North East next week. Live Mesh – which synchronises data and connects multiple devices together – will be on display for the first time in the country at the Thinking Digital conference in Gateshead on May 21-23.
The product, which was unveiled in the US last month, allows web-users to keep their ever-increasing number of mobile devices such as MP3 players and laptops, in-sync and up-to-date. It is expected to be a major plank in Microsoft’s future strategy.
Steve Clayton, of Microsoft International’s Software plus services lead, said: “I’m really excited about coming to Thinking Digital. The line-up is the best of any conference in the UK this year. I’m looking forward to being able to present these technologies and it’s also good to be doing it outside of London.” As well as showing off the Live Mesh, Thinking Digital will showcase some of the other impressive technological advancements to come out of Microsoft including Deep Zoom – a new technology which allows you to explore collections of super high imagery from a two megapixel shot right up to gigapixel scans of museum pieces.
Also on display will be PopFly – a website which allows just anyone to create web pages or fuse various applications together and publish and share them over the net.
The three-day Thinking Digital conference starts next Wednesday at The Sage Gateshead and Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art.
The event begins on Wednesday afternoon with a series of workshops, with day two centred around sessions on the future of media, technology and even happiness. The final day will include sessions on globalisation, mobile 2.0 and management in the digital age.
