A NORTH games developer is awaiting a visit from representatives of an international publisher, who will jet to the region this week to discuss a new games concept.
Richard Edwards, from Newcastle-based Mere Mortals, will be given the chance to pitch his idea for a new video game to top publishers from the US.
Edwards won an internal competition in which staff were encouraged to put forward their ideas which were then evaluated, shortlisted and conceptualised with the best ones presented to some of the biggest names in the worldwide games industry at a meeting in San Francisco.
A US-based publisher liked Richard’s concept so much, representatives are flying from the United States to discuss moving the project forward.
Mere Mortals managing director Steve Walmsley said: “We are delighted that big-name games publishers are interested in our concepts and in particular in Richard’s idea.
“This visit shows that the first- class games talent here in the North East can compete with the best in the world, and we are proud to think that we use every possible opportunity to attract and keep the cream of it within Mere Mortals.”
