A SUB-SEA engineering firm has been flooded with enquiries from around the world and has landed a £135,000 deal in Norway after a fledgling IT company boosted its online presence.
Two months ago, Newcastle’s Fraser Hydraulics enlisted the services of blossoming search engine optimisation (SEO) company Mediaworks to increase sales through its website.
Mediaworks, also based in Newcastle, carried out various SEO-related studies and set about driving more traffic to the site.
Since then the engineering firm has received enquiries from a India, China and Singapore and has landed the Norwegian contract.
Fraser will build a linear cable engine to be part of a cable-laying barge which will lay power and telecoms cables across the Oslo Fjord.
Fraser company director Peter Fraser said: “We know the number of people going to the site has gone up significantly and the first enquiry we got led to £135,000 deal.
“We have had more general enquiries from all over the world, from people that wouldn’t have called us in the past.”
Mediaworks was launched last August by Brett Jacobson and in December moved into a 1,000 sq ft office space on Walker Road.
