Fuseboxdesign aims to plug into Asian market

A SMALL but ambitious IT company in Newcastle is opening an office in Singapore to plug into the fast-growing Asian market.

Fuseboxdesign, which specialises in providing online business solutions and new media design, has joined up with Newcastle-based architecture and interior design firm Red Box Design Group for the overseas venture.

Fuseboxdesign director Jarrod Cocksedge has launched the Singapore operation with the primary aim of targeting specific sectors in which the company has proven experience in the UK. Those initial targets are the tourism industry, police, construction and engineering.

Mr Cocksedge, who is also director of international business development for Red Box, said the consultancy will target building regeneration projects in Singapore, and use the new base to tap into opportunities available in South-East Asia.

He said: “Singapore is a ‘techno-city’ where everyone has a mobile device, and communication is a 24-7 essential. I’m confident that we’ll be able to excite companies with ideas such as our e-invite and e-newsletter system.

“Fuseboxdesign has proven experience working for the tourism sector in North-East England. As Singapore is a thriving tourism destination and the gateway to South-East Asia and Australia, I will be hoping to build a strong portfolio of clients in this sector within the first few months.”

The companies decided to make the move after consulting UK Trade and Investment, which provided market reports highlighting opportunities within these industry sectors.

Alan J Smith, chairman of Red Box Design Group, said: “The new office in Singapore opens the door to a wider range of opportunities for both Red Box Design Group and Fuseboxdesign. This continues the group’s strategy to introduce a high level of service into targeted burgeoning markets around the world.”

Fuseboxdesign’s operation in the North-East of England is also expanding. The staff of 10 has recently increased to 14, with further recruitment expected within the next few months. Sarah Linley, managing director of Fuseboxdesign, added: “With the wide variety of online tools possible, businesses can now communicate with clients in exciting, interactive and cost-effective ways. It is testament to the team here at Fuseboxdesign that the company has grown steadily since its launch in 2001.”

Fuseboxdesign’s current portfolio of work includes Hadrian’s Wall, Shepherd Construction, Wellstream, Northern Film and Media and Sunderland City Council.

Red Box Design Group projects include Nissan European Technology, Yukos Research and Development Facility in Moscow, Gateshead College Baltic Campus, Newcastle Gateshead Hilton Hotel and Sunderland Aquatic Centre.
