Expert will help inventors bring their ideas to market

PETEC, a national prototyping institute for the development and commercialisation of printed electronics, based in the North East, has made a key appointment to its rapidly expanding team.

Yong Uk Lee, born and raised in Korea, takes up the role of senior electronic device process developer. He will manage a team to ensure new innovative processes developed at the centre are industrially and commercially viable.

Petec, managed by the Centre for Process Innovation, will offer access to expertise and advanced equipment with the aim of minimising risk in industrial research and development in printed electronics.

The centre is designed to be an ideal platform for start-ups and larger manufacturing companies to start prototype production.

Yong Uk has seven years’ experience in flexible and printable electronics, having developed projects for Samsung Electronics Co and Korea Electronics Technology Institute. He said: “It’s a great honour to have such a key role in the development of new frontier technologies at Petec.

“I’m particularly looking forward to working and exploring opportunities in the plastic electronic industry here in the UK”

Petec project director Tom Taylor said: “Yong Uk brings a wide range of knowledge and expertise in the sector.”
