New ideas, a new firm and new BSB services

A North architecture firm is enjoying a growth spurt following a new venture.

Browne Smith Baker (BSB) is seeing a period of growth after announcing a new arm to the business.

BSB Project Services Ltd is a new company designed to enhance Browne Smith Baker's core business and provide a more detailed and extensive level of service to clients.

The architectural practice - which has offices in Newcastle, Darlington, Leeds and Hull - has a constant portfolio of high-profile, pivotal developments across the North.

It has been the driving force in the multi-million pound regeneration of Seaham, County Durham, and a leading player in creating a luxury, five-star hotel spa and golf complex for Rockcliffe Hall Ltd in Hurworth, near Darlington.

Phil Wilson, associate director at BSB, said: "It's a very exciting time for Browne Smith Baker.

"BSB Project Services Ltd is created out of an existing range of in-house expertise to serve the changing demands of the industry and to help our clients develop an informed and coordinated approach to design decision-making.

BSB Projects Services Ltd can tailor its services to serve the individual needs, including project managers, building energy assessors, access consultancy, visualisations and compliance checking.

There will also be CMD coordinators, replacing the role of planning supervisor, who will act as a client's adviser in construction health and safety matters.

This will involve advising and assisting the client and design team in complying with CDM 2007 regulations, from the early design stages of a project, through the construction phase to completion of the project.

In addition to providing architectural services, Browne Smith Baker specialises in project management, urban design, planning supervision, interior design and virtual reality.
