From its roots as a recruitment consultancy set up purely to focus on recruiting finance professionals in the North-East, Nigel Wright Recruitment is now a 100-strong business covering specific disciplines and industry sectors throughout the UK and western Europe.
This has been achieved by consistently following a philosophy of intelligence and integrity when it comes to recruitment.
The specific sector knowledge the Nigel Wright consultants possess is primarily due to the invaluable experience they have gained due to their industry background and subsequent institute qualifications.
ACA-qualified himself, Nigel Wright established his consultancy in 1988.
Bringing the business to where it is today, the current finance recruitment division consists of 12 consultants, three of whom - Paul Newton, Alistair Westwood and Dave Bowman - are also ACA qualified and a further two are qualified accountants.
Before joining, Paul previously trained and qualified with Ernst and Young and moved to PricewaterhouseCoopers in Newcastle.
Alistair trained locally with PricewaterhouseCoopers and Dave was an ACA qualified senior manager at Deloittes in Newcastle.
Nigel Wright Recruitment's finance division consists of the highest number of consultants who are ACA qualified in the North-East, setting the division apart from its competitors.
This factor is invaluable when it comes to really gaining in-depth understanding of clients' and candidates' needs.
Managing consultant Paul Newton said: "Clients and candidates are looking to depend on a consultant who has the industry know-how as well as the capability to deliver a professional recruitment service.
"When developing our existing teams, it is this balance of knowledge we look for.
"Those consultants who are not ACA qualified but have recruitment industry experience can then benefit from consultants' accountancy industry knowledge and this also works vice-versa.
"This belief enables us to take the intelligent approach to guiding our clients and candidates through their business and career decisions respectively."
The association with the profession goes back a long way and relations with the ICAEW's NE body have never been better with Nigel Wright Recruitment being proud to be headline sponsors of the regional dinner in October.
Ian Scott Bell, Nigel Wright's head of marketing, said `It is a particular pleasure to be sponsors of the Northern Society's annual dinner on the occasion of the society's 125th anniversary.
"It is an association that we are proud to have and one that we hope will continue into the future'.
