Bringing the best together

BALFOUR Beatty Management successfully continues to provide services to a growing number of significant projects for the chemical process industry in the North-east and abroad.

Balfour Beatty Management is the consultancy arm of Balfour Beatty, specialising in the project and programme management of major construction and infrastructure schemes. It has a track record of developing on-going relationships with clients, many of which are looking for a collaborative and flexible approach to meet the project support requirements.

The Tees Valley-based company is providing project management and costings services to chemical processing projects including Huntsman in Teesside, and Q8 Petroleum at Europoort in Holland where an expanding team is currently planning the forthcoming site turnaround.

Balfour Beatty Management is also part of a trio of firms in the Concord Alliance, working for Lucite International, the global leader in the innovation, design, development and manufacture of acrylic-based products.

The three companies in the alliance jointly prepare, plan and execute work on the Cassell Works site in Billingham.

With a team based on site at Billingham, Balfour Beatty Management is providing traditional cost and planning services for the ongoing operation of the plant. In addition the organisation is providing strategic guidance by assisting Lucite International in formulating a strategy to reduce the need for a costly tendering process as well as recommending options to increase site productivity.

Looking towards the future, the focus for the North-east office of the consultancy division is on petrochemical, pharmaceutical, water, nuclear and other related industry sectors.

Ian Basford, business development director for Balfour Beatty Management, said: “There is confidence in the future of the process industry in the North-east. Many years’ expertise can be found here, and is valued not only regionally and across the UK, but around the world.

“Balfour Beatty Management operates on the principle of bringing the very best together. The project management team has tapped into the experience to be found in this region and is successfully supplying those skills to chemical plants across the UK and Europe.

“By working closely with clients, Balfour Beatty Management develops a deeper understanding of the business objectives, enabling ongoing strategic support and guidance alongside effective cost and planning services.”
