Media firm is on the move

A TEES Valley creative company is enjoying award-winning success as its operation continues to grow.

Television and video production company, 3 Point Media, was established in 2005 by three former employees of Boro TV.

After the TV channel broadcast for the final time, producer Michael Weadock, camera operator Dan Whaler and VT editor Xavier Davidson spotted an opening in the market for a TV and video production company.

With an investment of around £20,000, they established the firm at Old Billingham Business Centre.

But a growth in business has now seen the firm move to bigger premises at Lingfield Point in Darlington. It has invested £25,000 in setting up the new operation, which is twice the size and includes a TV studio.

The team also recently walked away with the Best New Creative Business category at the Best New Business Awards 2008 which recognise the achievements of business start-ups in the Tees Valley.

The company regularly produces video podcasts and web TV programmes for a diverse range of clients including Bannatyne Fitness, Busy Bees, the biggest nursery group in the country and Darlington Football Club.

Michael Weadock, partner at 3 Point Media, said: “We are absolutely overwhelmed to have won the award for the Best New Creative Business at this year’s awards.

“When we started 3 Point Media more than two years ago we began in a small room with a single telephone, and now we have two edit suites, two camera kits and our own TV studio.”
