Everyone’s in the picture thanks to Get Carter’s gang

GET Carter Productions in Blaydon may not be one of the highest profile companies here in the North East. However outside the region it’s highly regarded as one of the country’s leading radio and audio production companies.

The company works for eight out of the UK’s top 10 motor retailers, international names such as the Kingfisher Group, Mazda and the NHS and all of the UK’s major independent radio groups.

Get Carter Productions is an independent radio commercial and audio production company offering everything from scriptwriting to finished audio and music production.

While you may not be aware of the company, if you tune into any of the commercial radio stations around the UK, or phone any of their many telephone on-hold clients, it’s likely you’ll find yourself listening to their work.

Best-kept secret

If Get Carter Productions are so well known around the UK, why don’t they blow their own trumpet more here in the North East?

Managing director Paul Carter said: “We are a relatively small company with just seven people in the team, but we’ve always had big ambitions. We work very hard at winning and retaining quality customers. That means establishing great working relationships, and of course producing great quality work. Our marketing tends to be very direct and personalised. ‘Spray and Pray’ is an expensive and wasteful approach, so if you’re someone we’re trying to talk to, you generally know it.”

National success

This approach seems to be paying off. In the past six months Get Carter Productions has won record numbers of new national and regional clients , including the Somerset based tool and materials supplier, Screwfix.

Kay Offord, head of its new store launch team, explains why she chose the North East based company.

“Screwfix is expanding rapidly, and we needed a supplier who not only understands how radio advertising works , but could also handle the volume and quality levels we require. We’ve been really impressed by the team’s ideas and creativity and crucially, the way they put them into practice. As a result, we don’t need lots of meetings. So sadly I don’t get to visit the North East as often as I’d like.”

Local talent

The company owes much of its success to the talent the region produces.

Operations director, Graham Bridgewood, said: “Our business depends on having a highly skilled team, and all that skill has been sourced locally. With the people we have, the help and support from organisations like Gateshead Council’s Economic Development Team, and a lot of hard work, this is just the beginning.”
