Carpet staff get wide training in customer care

Independent carpet retailer Storey Carpets is putting all its staff through their paces with an in-house training and development programme to improve staff product knowledge, increase customer care and offer support and career progression.

The flooring specialist is the first flooring retailer to offer in-house training to their staff. The initiative rolled out by training and development manager Jon Whitfield, and gives staff the chance to learn more about the products they sell and how to sell them efficiently, the after care procedures of the product and the importance of customer care.

Jon said: "It is important that our customers needs and requirements are being met efficiently. By putting our staff through a training programme that has been specifically constructed around customer care techniques and product knowledge we can ensure their needs are being met."

The programme is also an opportunity for staff to improve and progress up the career ladder. With an IIP accreditation and only a 16pc drop out rate Storey Carpets are keen to ensure that all their staff advice their customers on the correct flooring to suit their home and lifestyle.

Simon Heptinstall, chief executive of Storey Carpets said: "The training and development programme is an excellent way to get the best from our staff, and in turn to provide our customers with an efficient and easy service."
