Having already established itself as a centre for excellence for the provision of apprenticeships in the engineering and manufacturing sectors, TDR Group has put Steve Lambert at the helm of its rapidly expanding business solutions division.
Ex-Royal Navy professional Steve has been with the company for four years and was recently appointed to the position of executive director of business solutions. His promotion coincides with TDR being awarded the contract as a service provider for 'Train to Gain'.
Steve said: "I am delighted to be driving this programme forward. At TDR we are committed to helping businesses improve their efficiency by creating a more skilled, effective and productive workforce for regional employers. Training staff is the key to developing any business. Business Solutions identifies a company's training needs and develops the right solutions."
For over eight years, TDR has successfully been providing apprenticeship training across the region and has developed vast partnerships with engineering and manufacturing companies, offering work experience opportunities for schools.
It currently works with 444 students, 28 schools and 65 companies and last year 92% of learners completed the apprenticeship framework. 100% of these progressed to the advanced level programme.
Drawing upon its existing training techniques and expertise, TDR is planning for similar success with business solutions.
Steve continued: "TDR will add value to a business whether its needs are for `off the shelf' or bespoke training solutions. Training courses are designed and implemented to suit individual companies' objectives and needs, conducted by experts in the industry in our specially developed training centre.
"These can be independently financed, or a business can choose from the several courses we provide that are that are funded by the Train to Gain programme.
"Training has such a huge impact on a business's performance.
"The right training solutions can increase a company's capability and generate more business and the Train to Gain programme is one of several opportunities available to North-East companies.
"I strongly believe that by raising the skills of the workforce we can develop a more productive North-East."
