HEXHAM-based marketing consultancy r//evolution is one of a whole host of leading companies to sign up to Talent Den. The company’s co-directors Gill Burgess and Peter Cooke have been participating in the programme for two months and are already describing it as “a very positive experience”.
R//evolution is a full service marketing organisation which has a very clear view about where it is going – and where it wants to get to. It has experienced considerable growth since it was set up six years ago and has built a significant portfolio of regional and national clients.
Ensuring that these clients’ needs are not only fully met but exceeded, and managing the company’s growth are what led the duo to choose the Talent Den programme.
It was after watching a presentation by Talent Den founder George Heydon that the two directors decided it would be both useful and the perfect vehicle for their organisation.
“I felt extremely motivated by George’s focused approach,” said Gill.
“Keeping an appropriate balance between the needs of our clients and the growth of the company is vital and we felt that the discipline of an external influence would help us achieve this.
“When you are trying to maintain an excellent quality of service, exceed client expectations, manage a growing workforce, keep on top of finances and steer the organisation to new achievements, having the focus and challenge provided by an external board is invaluable.”
Gill also believes the knowledge and expertise provided by the programme leaders on Talent Den will benefit the company massively and help them reach the individual and organisational goals they are setting themselves for the future.
“Although it’s very early days I wouldn’t hesitate to say that being part of Talent Den really is a very positive experience for us,” she said. “R//evolution is becoming known as one of the best agencies for creative marketing in the region and I’m sure that the help that Talent Den are offering will help us to achieve our long-term growth aspirations.”

Businessmen with a talent for making their wealth work for them
THE goal of Talent Den is to help successful entrepreneurs achieve personal wealth and financial security and once that process is under way, the aim is to consolidate that new-found wealth and make it work for them.
Talent Den has been working closely with Ernst & Young LLP tax director David Mattu (right) attending a number of seminars to explain how this internationally renowned organisation can help entrepreneurs manage their wealth effectively from a taxation perspective.
David, of the company’s Newcastle office, said: “The object of Talent Den is to help entrepreneurs grow their business and ensure their personal wealth grows.
“A lot of the work I do is assisting entrepreneurs in their tax planning to help them to achieve their goals.
“Many people spend a lot of time looking at achieving success for their business but do not take enough time to create and manage their own wealth, which should really be treated with equal importance.
“Talent Den is a great mechanism through which to achieve this aim and which helps entrepreneurs clarify their goals and then to achieve those goals.”
David’s work centres around tax planning for entrepreneurs and private wealth management, and his expertise is a perfect fit for the aims and objectives that Talent Den sets for its participants.
