MP backs campaign

STOCKTON South MP, Dari Taylor, has thrown her weight behind the campaign to keep green fuels on Teesside after admitting that previous attempts to lobby Government had fallen on deaf ears.

She believes concerted action is necessary by the region’s biofuels cluster to wake up Whitehall.

Ms Taylor believes Teesside’s biofuels capability “is second to none” and is keen to promote the sector’s ability to boost inward investment, create jobs and reduce the carbon footprint.

She said: “I am banging on the Treasury’s door with the message that biofuels can generate wealth and open up rural markets.

“Teesside’s farmers haven’t been coming to me to complain about the food versus fuel debate. They want to see more biofuel production in the region.”
