ROYAL Quays is currently in the middle of a repositioning programme following the acquisition of the site last year by Jersey-based NSIP.
NSIP has appointed factory outlet and retail specialist WD to reposition and rejuvenate the 15-year-old centre. The first stage of “refreshment” to the scheme has now been completed with the launch of Costa Coffee as well as a brand new 5,000 square foot Nike store and an increased 3,500 square foot Puma store, both of which opened in October.
A second stage of the rejuvenation is due next year with major improvements expected with the remaining two anchor stores. In the meantime, a number of new exciting fashion brands are due to open before Christmas with several more opening for Easter 2008.
Royal Quays was one of the very first factory outlet centres built within the UK offering customers up to 60% off RRP on a wide range of goods including fashion, homeware and sportswear.
The centre comprises 140,000 square feet of shopping in 52 units with nearly 800 car parking spaces.
Royal Quays lies east of Newcastle adjacent to both the International Ferry Terminal and the Tyne Tunnel and is conveniently accessible through the main coast road to both Newcastle residents and to the affluent and growing areas round the mouth of the Tyne.
Royal Quays is truly the outlet centre for Newcastle and is the only outlet scheme within the Newcastle conurbation.
Tenants include Marks & Spencer, Next, Nike, Puma, Rebook, Le Creuset, Virgin, Fila, Body Shop and Carphone Warehouse.
Royal Quays aims to attract the mobile and upward populations that not only live in the areas in around Tyneside, but also to the many people who work within a 10 minute drive time and who are increasingly coming to the centre for their lunch times, both to eat at the fast improving catering offers or simply to shop.
Given the constant traffic problems in and around Newcastle city centre, access in and out of the scheme with its free car parking is pleasantly quick and easy.
