Carillion has a history of Valley builds

CARILLION plc is proud to be part of the celebrations for the 70th anniversary of Team Valley.

As Mowlem plc, the company started carrying out projects on the Team Valley in the early 1980s for what was then English Estates, and over the intervening 25 years, it has carried out various developments for individual companies and numerous developers not only on Team Valley but throughout the North-East.

A further point of historical note is that in the early 1970s the company was also responsible for constructing the Gateshead Western Bypass, connecting the southern and northern accesses of Team Valley.

It then became committed to Team Valley even further by locating its North-East headquarters on Kingsway South in 1990, benefiting from its central location and excellent access to the A1.

Divisional director Martin Nunn has been chairman of Valley Watch since its inception in 1996 and this has led to increased security and lack of crime on the estate.

Carillion delivers innovative and sustainable building and infrastructure projects in the North-East and all over the UK by providing bespoke surveying, engineering and project management services for both public and private-sector clients.

The regional offices are managed by local people and support local supply chains, ensuring the efficient and cost-effective delivery of successful projects. Carillion works on a long-term basis with the region’s major clients. More than 80% of this is repeat business.

Such contract successes, along with a string of recent prestigious industry awards, including winners of Constructing Excellence North-East’s Sustainability (2006) and Integration and Collaborative Working (2007) categories, is testament to the firm’s achievements.

All at Carillion look forward to further success in the future and continuing to support the Great North constructively.
