A MOTHER and daughter team are proving family ties can help push your business forward.

Mother and daughter Jan Massey and Melanie Crow, owners of Photography for Little People, have inspired and motivated each other over the past three years to go forward, overcome the odds and achieve their vision and dream.

The hard work, passion and commitment of the duo, coupled with their obvious outstanding contribution to retail business in the North-East, was the reason for their nomination and subsequent Woman in Retail award.

Since starting their business on a
barrow in the MetroCentre, they have gone on to open a shop in the MetroCentre, which has the largest selection of baby gifts and personalised gift items in the region.

Their photography studio is a true children’s paradise – with its ambience of fun, relaxation and sheer enjoyment – where precious moments can be captured forever.

They have formed numerous alliances across the region with schools, hospitals, and nurseries successfully promoting their business to a community who is ready to embrace genuine creativity and passion, at very affordable prices.

Jan and Mel have extended their expertise more recently into online shopping with a website.

They attribute much of their success to their highly committed team and very loyal customers.

Jan said: “We have created something very special that our customers love and our team enjoy working on.

“This year we will be focusing on building our business and launching it for franchise by the end of next year.

“An important part of our work has always been to support local charities.

“More recently we have been working along side the Evening Chronicle to support the Tilly Hand Appeal. We are taking impressions of celebrities hands which will be auctioned for Tilly next year.

“Alan Shearer, amongst others has helped us and we would like others to come forward to help support this campaign.”
