Success at Gazette Race Day

THE Evening Gazette’s Race Day at Redcar has helped make a difference for charity.

Scores of representatives from leading companies and business organisations in the Tees Valley joined staff from the Gazette at the annual event.

Part of the day involved the paper joining forces with the racecourse to place bets in support of the Gazette’s Making a Difference fund, which is distributed to local good causes.

And the charity’s luck was certainly in with £154.17 going into its coffers.

Among the charities to benefit from last year’s Making A Difference were:

Middlesbrough Shopmobility, which was awarded £1,950 to buy new equipment to give elderly and frail people independence through wheelchairs, scooters and walking aids.

The Sacred Heart Youth Club at Park Road South, which gained new sports equipment, thanks to a £1,200 grant.

Teesside Positive Action, a charity that helps those living with HIV, received £1,500 allowing it to continue its rapid HIV test service, which gives patients a result within one hour.
