A TEES Valley training group has been honoured at an awards event for the region’s charity sector.
The TTE Technical Training Group, in South Bank, Middlesbrough, was named Education and Training Charity of the Year at the inaugural County Durham and Tees Valley Charity Awards 2007.
For more than 15 years, TTE has worked with Tees industry to train apprentices to go to local employers.
This academic year, September 2007, TTE welcomed its largest intake of learners, with more than 230 students starting one of TTE’s portfolio of eight apprenticeship programmes.
Keith Leslie, TTE apprenticeship business director, accepted the award at the event at Hardwick Hall near Sedgefield.
He said: “We are very proud of our charitable status, which is well supported through our relationships with local employers who provide sponsorship for the training of our apprentices.
“This award acknowledges the commitment TTE and local industry have shown to increase the technical skills base of this region.”
The awards recognise charities, volunteers and fundraisers who give time and energy to good causes.
