International firm snaps up offices

CONSTRUCTION and property consultancy Cyril Sweett is opening a new North East office in the middle of Newcastle.

The international firm has taken 2,687sqft at the newly refurbished 20 Collingwood Street building above the Perdu bar.

This is the first letting at 20 Collingwood Street, which has been developed by Avenda Estates in Gateshead to offer 10,624sqft of open plan offices on four floors.

The building is being fully refurbished to an exceptional standard and provides open plan grade A office accommodation, including comfort cooling and Cat 5 cabling.

The joint letting agents for the building are Knight Frank and Lambert Smith Hampton.

Patrick Matheson, of Knight Frank, said: “We are delighted to be able to welcome such a high-profile company as Cyril Sweett to 20 Collingwood Street.

“The building has been transformed into high quality office accommodation and the fact that Cyril Sweet has chosen 20 Collingwood Street before completion of the refurbishment is a fantastic endorsement of the quality of the accommodation and the location, which is only two minutes from Newcastle Central Station.

“One of the unique selling points is that Avenda have already installed Cat 5 cabling, which is a huge benefit in terms of time and cost for an ingoing tenant. In addition to the letting to Cyril Sweett, we also have strong interest in several other floors of the building.”

Cyril Sweett offers services in cost consultancy, project management, building surveying and a range of specialist consulting services.

The firm has 28 offices throughout the UK, Australia, France, India, Ireland, Singapore, Spain and the United Arab Emirates. Before opening up in Collingwood Street, Cyril Sweett’s closest offices for the North East were in Leeds and Edinburgh.

The firm’s project director Ian Etchells said: “Myself and my colleagues are really excited to have moved to Collingwood Street, as it is a key location and provides us with a modern, state of the art environment.

“Our aim is to double the headcount of our people by the end of the year and our new premises give us the ability to expand.”
