Strong bidding as newsagent changes hands

TAYLORS Newsforce in Shotton Colliery, near Peterlee, has been sold after 25 years of family ownership. Located on Cowley Street the two-storey mid-terrace property, features a two-bedroom flat and extensive storage space to the rear.

The business sells a range of products, including newspapers, magazines, convenience food, household goods, wines and spirits, tobacco, confectionery, toys and greetings cards.

Andrew Birnie, from Christie & Co’s Newcastle Office, who handled the sale, said: “Our marketing of Taylors Newsforce attracted a huge amount of interest and we received multiple offers over the asking price. We have previously sold another business for the Taylor brothers, which also attracted strong bidding.

“The Taylor family had owned Taylors Newsforce for over 25 years and are well respected members of the local and regional business community. The successful purchaser is from Leicester.”

An asking price of £235,000 was sought for the freehold interest of Taylors Newsforce and it was sold for an undisclosed sum.
