New boss for city property agent

ONE of the largest property agents in the North East, GVA Lamb & Edge, has a new boss at its Newcastle office.

Mike Cuthbertson has been appointed as regional senior director, taking over the role from Peter Smith who will continue as a director of the firm, which is part of national operator GVA Grimley.

Mr Cutherbertson joined Lamb and Edge 21 years ago, and has been involved with many of the region’s largest property developments, such as the Scottish & Newcastle Brewery site in Newcastle, the Vaux Brewery Site in Sunderland, Newcastle International Airport, the Middlehaven scheme in Middlesbrough, North Shore in Stockton and Newburn Riverside business park.

He was appointed as an equity partner in 1989 in overall control of agency and consultancy, and under his leadership Lamb and Edge grew to become one of the largest independent agents in the north of England.

He was then central to the negotiations between Lamb and Edge and GVA Grimley that led to the firms merging in 2006.

His expertise in the region’s property sector is widely recognised and Mike advises English Partnerships, One NorthEast and a range of local authorities, police authorities and NHS Trusts in addition to property developers and occupiers. He said: “I’m delighted to have been appointed regional senior director. I aim to build on Peter Smith’s work to take GVA Lamb and Edge forward.”
