A MEETING to show how to select lambs for specific end markets in being staged in the North East later this month.
Eblex, in conjunction with Upper Teesdale Agricultural Support Services, is holding a free meeting for sheep farmers on Wednesday, February 27, at Marwood Social Centre in Barnard Castle, County Durham, starting at 7.30pm.
Eblex regional manager Steve Powdrill will take producers through a new virtual lamb selection computer tool.
This demonstrates the differences between animals that have desirable or poor conformation and fat cover, and highlights the benefits of selecting lambs to meet specific end markets.
This will be supported by a practical demonstration from a local butcher, who will tell the audience what he is looking for in a sheep carcase in terms of meat yield.
The evening includes a light supper.
Call Julia at UTASS on (01833) 641010 or Sandra at Eblex on (0870) 609-1840 to register.
