THE Country Land and Business Association has appointed a new officer in the North East.
Wallace Sayer will provide the organisation with an increased presence in the region when he takes up the position as field officer for Durham and Cleveland. Mr Sayer, of Middleton St George, County Durham, is well-known in rural communities in the North East, having been liaison officer for Stockton Farmwatch, as well as a Cleveland Police officer for 30 years.
His rural credentials are enhanced by his role as chairman of the Clay Pigeon Shooting Association for the North of England. He was made a life vice-president of the association this year for services to the sport and is a member of the Institute of Clay Shooting Instructors.
The appointment comes in a time of growth for the CLA in the region as members take advantage of the organisation’s professional advisory services and rely on its lobbyists to give rural parts of the North East a voice in the corridors of power.
North East director Angus Collingwood-Cameron said: “I am delighted to welcome Wallace to our team. He is a consummate professional and well known throughout the region.
“He has certainly hit the ground running, and has already helped raise our profile tremendously.”
