Auction farm has a £1.75m guide price

A FARM being auctioned next week has a guide price which could make it the most expensive lot ever to go under the hammer in the North East.

The 179-acre Low Burn Hall Farm, three miles from the centre of Durham City, has a guide price of £1.75m.

Being presented by George F. White, the auction takes place on Wednesday March 26 at 6.30pm at the Honest Lawyer Hotel, Croxdale, Durham.

Robyn Peat Partner of George F. White said: “Although you never know what will actually happen at a public auction until it happens, one thing is guaranteed, the suspense for all, the auctioneer, the vendor and the potential purchasers will be immense.

“This is the most valuable lot that we have ever presented at Public Auction. Farms and farmland are being increasingly sought after, and farms like Low Burn Hall are increasingly difficult to find, so the interest has been high. We are anticipating the guide price given will be exceeded.”

Selling an entire farm by public auction is extremely unusual and George F. White are expecting wide interest from farmers, investors and lifestyle purchasers.

The estate comprises of a four bedroom farmhouse, two cottages, traditional farmsteading and modern buildings. There are 179.16 acres of arable, pasture and woodland, extensive River Wear frontage and shooting rights.

Low Burn Hall Farm is in an area of high landscape value within the green belt. The land has been registered, and is sold with the benefit of entitlements to receive payments under the Single Payment Scheme.
