TO celebrate England’s patron saint, who is also the Patron Saint of Agricultural Workers, the Country Land and Business Association is hosting a St George’s Day breakfast at Broom Mill Farm Shop, West Auckland, tomorrow morning, April 23.
The event has been organised not only to celebrate St George, but also to celebrate local food. During this and other breakfasts across the country, the CLA will be announcing the results of its survey into the food procurement policies of large public and private sector organisations.
Angus Collingwood-Cameron, CLA North East director, said: “For a number of years, we have organised events on the 23rd April to help raise the profile of the day, and at the same time celebrate the wonderful local food that can be found in our region. This year, I am delighted that we are going to Broom Mill Farm, which is renowned for its wide range of home produced pork products. I am particularly looking forward to the bacon and sausages at breakfast.” He added: “As much as possible, everything served at breakfast will have its local origin identified on the menu. This is part of the CLA’s Just Ask campaign, which urges all consumers to ask where their food comes from whenever they eat out.” He also said: This region produces wonderful food products.”
