Awards for solicitors

THREE outstanding local trainee solicitors have been awarded prizes for their performances in their final law examinations.

The R T Richardson Prize and the William Hutton Prize have great historic legacy within the society and date back to as early as 1909.

The winner of the William Hutton Prize 2007-2008 was awarded to Rebecca Amor, of Watson Woodhouse Solicitors, for achieving an outstanding average mark of 79.2% in her LPC at the College of Law, York after achieving a first class honors degree.

Candidates must be articled to a solicitor in the County Borough of Sunderland or the County Borough of Middlesbrough and must have passed the final examination with a distinction. Rebecca commenced her training contract with Watson Woodhouse in September 2008 and has spent time gaining experience in the housing and family departments.

Erica Doe, a trainee solicitor at Mincoff Jacksons Law Firm and law graduate from Teesside University, was confirmed to be the winner of the R T Richardson Prize 2008 having completing her LPC at The College of Law, York with a distinction. Erica completed her LPC on a part-time basis alongside working at Mincoff Jacksons in Stockton where she has been a respected and valued employee for over 4 years. Erica will be admitted on the roll as a solicitor on 31st December 2009 after gaining experience in Commercial Litigation, Commercial Property and Company Commercial.
