Durham alumnus to fight fires in Gibraltar

DURHAM University alumnus, Guillermo Mauro, has been appointed chief fire officer of the Gibraltar Fire Service.
Guillermo has worked for the service for almost 30 years and completed the MA in Enterprise Management with Durham Business School’s Management Development Centre in 2007. He joined the City Fire Brigade as a fireman in 1980 at the age of 20, rising through the ranks to the post of Deputy Chief Fire Officer.
Dr Bill Snaith, Director of MDC said: "Guillermo is a forward thinking individual who recognised the MA as a route to improved strategic thinking. We congratulate him on this well-earned appointment."
