Family firm wins award

FAMILY business Dicksons is celebrating after coming out on top at this year’s prestigious South Tyneside Enterprise Partnership (STEP) Awards.

The food manufacturer and retailer, which has 20 shops across the North East, was named Retailer of the Year and overall Business of the Year above all other category winners, at an awards ceremony on Thursday July 2.

The awards, which took place at Simonside Industrial Estate in South Shields, are now in their twelfth year and are widely recognised as identifying outstanding achievements in business within the South Tyneside area.

Thrilled by the result, head of marketing at Dicksons, who collected the awards, Elena Dickson said: "We were extremely pleased to be named Retailer of the Year and Business of the Year at this fantastic event. These awards are a great honour and I am grateful to all of our staff who have worked so hard to help make this possible."
