Designer shapes own future

Peter Quick with Mark Reed

A KITCHEN designer has bounced back from redundancy to launch his own business in new workshop and office space at Newcastle Business Village.

Peter Quick, 54, who ran the retail arm of Grange Interiors, was made redundant when the firm went into administration, and with more than 30 years’ experience in the kitchen industry he decided to set up his bespoke kitchen design and fitting service, Arthouse Interiors, last September.

Mr Quick has recruited three staff, a sales manager, installation manager and kitchen fitter, and moved into workshop and office premises at the Benton business village.

The company is the first tenant of Newcastle Business Village, which opened earlier this year and offers small and growing businesses workshop, light industrial, office and warehouse space with flexible terms.

Mr Quick said: “As well as it giving me the storage capacity to move into different areas, such as bathroom and conservatory design and build, I have also been able to launch an online, supply-only division to the business called kitchendoors4u.com, which should be fully running in three months.”

Newcastle Business Village managing director Mark Reed said: “We are delighted to welcome Arthouse Interiors to Newcastle Business Village.

“It is great news to secure such a fast-growing business and see the Business Village concept come to life.”
