Former Sage worker goes from software to sales

Paul Leck of Hubbtec

A FORMER Sage employee is now selling his former company's software after setting up on his own.

Paul Leck decided to start Hubbtec, an IT firm working with business and domestic users, after 13 years with the Newcastle-based company.

He said: “I’ve always enjoyed helping to make IT services accessible to individuals and offering solutions to everyday problems through software or IT infrastructure. At Hubbtec, I focus my business entirely on the end-customer, making IT work for individuals and businesses through a full range of services across training, development and data hosting.

“The software market can be daunting and often I work with customers who know what they want a software product to achieve, but have little idea around what next steps to take. As the only Sage reseller in North Tyneside, I can use my knowledge of the market to identify a customer’s needs and guide them through the numerous products on the market or develop bespoke solutions to find something which works for them.”

Whitley Bay-based Mr Leck worked with The Business Factory in Wallsend, which advised on his business plan and on which customers to target.

David Ireland, The Business Factory’s business advisor, said: “Paul came to us with the skills, knowledge and passion to set up a new business and we helped him refine his ideas into a workable business model.

“Hubbtec is a business which will be an asset to individuals and businesses across North Tyneside and beyond and we expect it to be a great success.”
