Newcastle business mum is nominated for award

A NEWCASTLE-based mumpreneur who started her business just two years ago is up for a national award for business mums.

Sarah Sharp, who runs website Families Recommend in addition to working part time and looking after her two-year-old, has been nominated for The Mumpreneur Awards 2010.

The awards, which support and celebrate mothers running businesses, will be judged by a panel including Rachel Elnaugh, ex-Dragon on the BBC's Dragons’ Den and Jo Cameron of Women on their Way, who took part in the BBC's The Apprentice.

Ms Sharp started her review-based website to fill a gap in the market after discovering a lack of quality information for families looking for things to do locally.

She is nominated in the Best Online Business category of the awards, which take place on September 18.
