Taking care of business
To ensure the best investment opportunity is offered to businesses, we work closely with the region’s other economic support agencies. These include UK Trade & Investment, the Government Office for the North East (GO-NE) and the regional development agency One NorthEast (ONE).
We’re one of the Regional Development Agency’s partners in the implementation of the Strategic Account Management Programme (SAMP), gathering in-depth information about UK and overseas-owned companies investing in the region.
In constant touch with new investors, and new and existing businesses, we have a clear understanding of the needs and concerns of businesses based in County Durham and companies considering relocating to the County.

A knowledge intensive future
We aim to create the kind of supportive environment in which businesses can thrive. So, as well as seeking out potential inward investors and supporting local businesses, we’re driving forward the County’s knowledge economy through the development of NETPark, the North East Technology Park at Sedgefield, one of the fastest growing science and technology parks in the UK.
To find out more about the benefits NETPark can bring, visit:
It's where companies lead the way in developing world-class technologies that create new products and new markets. NETPark's sectoral focus is on the physical sciences, particularly plastic electronics, microelectronics, photonics, nanotechnology, and their application in the fields of energy, defence, and medical-related technologies.
The NETPark Incubator provides and adaptable mix of laboratory and office space for growing and established small companies and project teams. It has quickly attracted some of the region’s most advanced technology companies – companies in sectors which will experience rapid growth in the future.
And the benefits NETPark can bring aren’t just restricted to companies on site. We want to encourage innovative companies throughout the County to grow and develop as part of a knowledge intensive community.
We believe that in NETPark Net we have precisely the right vehicle to deliver this and to help County Durham companies develop new products, processes and markets.
Best described as a ‘virtual science park’, it opens up the benefits and facilities of NETPark, from technology incubation to virtual office facilities – web-based access to services such as advice, financial and technology support accessible at the click of a key.
