MECH-Tool Engineering Ltd is a recognised specialist in the provision of turnkey fire/blast protection and modular solutions to the oil, gas, nuclear and renewables markets.
This year has started on a positive note for the business, with Mech-Tool gaining several contracts in recent months. Contracts recently secured by Mech-Tool include the design, fabrication and supply of accommodation modules for Buzzard, an LER (Local Equipment Room) for Conway, a laboratory module for the Golden Eagle field and heatshields, fire/blastwalls for the Apache Forties field in the UK sector.
The company has invested heavily into its capabilities, including the manufacture and design of jigs and fixtures for its range of fire/blastwall, and heat shield products. The most prominent investment has been in an 800-tonne Ermaksan CNC press brake offering a combination of 800-tonne pressing strength together with a maximum capacity of seven metres. It is believed to be the only press of its specification in the UK.
Managing Director Keith Bell said: “We have re-tested all of our heat shield products, as well as improving the design and at present we have one of the best products, in terms of certification, in the world. We have also developed, tested and brought to market a new breed of flexible fire protection designed to be fitted around valves, actuators and vessels, which offers up to two hours protection of the equipment in the event of a hydrocarbon or gas fire.”
