South Tyneside College - a leader in safety training

SITUATED on the banks of the River Tyne in South Shields, South Tyneside College's Marine Safety Training Centre (MSTC) has an extensive range of facilities which have been developed to provide the most realistic training environment possible.

The range of courses in safety training is outstanding with all being taught in the superb facility, one of the foremost safety training resources in the UK. These courses utilise extensive and unique facilities in offshore safety training and include Europe's first offshore platform transfer simulator to recreate realistic working conditions. The facility is also accredited to deliver RenewableUK Marine Safety Training.

Hundreds of organisations from across the globe use the facility each year which is testament to the high standard of training provided. Other facilities include:

Environmental Pool - used for survival training, equipped with variable wave pattern generator, wind, rain, light and sound effects.

Eight- seat helicopter escape module, capable of being used to simulate dry, wet and capsize situations.

Range of marine and aviation life rafts, survival suits, lifejackets and associated survival equipment.
