Engineering group with a positive future

Impress Fabrication

FOUNDED in 1997 by directors George Peel and Steven Young Impress has gone from strength to strength, with an ever-growing order book from a vast array of market sectors.

Impress has diversified into other areas allowing it to satisfy the ever increasing demands of customers. Continual heavy investment in plant, equipment and property has reinforced expansion of the subsidiaries (Express Lasers, Kingston Precision Engineering and Impressive Welding).

Operating from its 36,000sqf site in Blaydon, Impress Group can now provide a one-stop shop solution with its in-house production facility, bucking the trend in the present economic climate has seen turnover increase whilst serving contracts for the Olympic Village and, at the other end of the scale, customers including British Engines with integral offshore components.

Impress and its subsidiaries has expanded its extensive stock of exotic materials such as Inconel, Duplex, Monel, Hastelloy, Titanium, Weldox, Hardox and many more.

Progressing with its strong commitment to quality and continuous improvement Impress in the early part of 2011 employed a new quality manager, allowing it to drive into new market sectors and service its ever-growing customer base of more than 1,000 accounts.

Impress was originally a standalone press shop but has grown into so much more, with pressings, sheet metalwork and assemblies from prototype through to low and high-volume production .

One of its subsidiaries, Express Lasers, offers a sub-contract laser cutting service to a wide range of industries requiring precision profiled components including general engineering, sign work, architectural, oil and gas, offshore, aerospace, automotive, yellow goods and excavation.

The 4000mm x 2000mm bed size of its Trumpf L4030S Laser machines can accommodate most standard plate sizes, capable of cutting regular materials and an array of exotic metals.

Kingston Precision Engineering specialises in the production of precision-turned components including micro machining, utilising the latest in CNC sliding head technology. Interchangeable tool top plates on the machines dramatically reduce set-up and cycle times, ensuring rapid delivery is achieved.

The latest edition to the ever growing group of companies is Impressive Welding Ltd (IWL).

IWL is a fully coded specialist welding company, which adds a new dimension to the Impress Group.

Having the capability of welding materials such as duplex, titanium, aluminium, copper and many more opens the door to new market sectors.

With the combination of knowledge and expertise IWL is growing rapidly and becoming known for a first class service.

Over the coming months there will also be the addition of QMS Engineering Ltd, currently located in South Shields, which will relocate to the Impress site.

QMS focuses on larger, high- precision CNC machined components and complements the ever-expanding list of services the Impress Group provides.
