Filling the gaps through outsourcing

THE need to balance the prerequisite of excellent customer service as standard, whilst controlling costs, reducing waste and managing working capital has never been more challenging.

“Outsourcing is often seen as a last resort when a problem can not be solved in-house. However, working with the right outsourcing partner can deliver huge customer service and cost control benefits by synchronising supply with customer demand.”

These are the thoughts of Darran Ledsom - MP Storage and Blending’s business development manager. He continues: “The comprehensive range of chemical and liquid processing services we now offer are a direct result of listening to our customers and working with them to fill in the gaps in their supply chain.”

For more than 40 years, as the name suggests, the MP Storage and Blending site on the Tees at Middlesbrough has stored and blended liquids. However, following the acquisition of the company by The Banner Chemicals Group in 2006, the focus of the business and significant investment has been targeted at developing a complete turnkey service from lab development, material and packaging sourcing and label design through to optimising blending and filling batches, quality control testing and final container loading, DGN documentation and onward shipping.

Darran continues: “The increasing demands of compliance and maintenance for all chemical processing equipment means fixed costs are escalating all the time regardless of product demand, where as outsourcing costs can be turned on and off in direct relation to customer orders.

“The flexibility to tailor specific services to each requirement is the key to delivering the maximum value for each customer. Whether it is for short-term contingency planning or long-term strategic development, we are well placed to find the perfect solution for today’s problems and tomorrow’s opportunities.”
